and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”
Isaiah 30:21 · WEBIsaiah’s picture of a people hearing direction as they turn reveals the care of God toward those He teaches. Guidance is not merely a route to a destination; it draws our attention to the One whose truth directs the journey.
We often want every detail before we take the first step. We hope certainty will remove the need to depend on God along the way. Yet following Him requires continued attention, not simply one clear instruction that allows us to stop listening.
This passage does not mean every believer will hear an audible voice at every decision. God guides us through His Word, the ministry of the Holy Spirit and wise counsel consistent with His truth. We grow in discernment as we remain humble and willing to examine what we believe we have heard.
Today, attend to the instruction already before you. Do not ignore clear truth while searching for a more dramatic sign. Ask God to make you sensitive to His leadership and willing to receive correction. You can trust His care without pretending every impression is His voice or demanding the whole journey in advance.
My ears are attentive to God’s truth, and my heart is sensitive to His leading. I test what I hear by His Word and welcome wise counsel. I receive grace to follow faithfully and to change direction when His instruction brings correction.
Father, help me recognize Your leadership without confusing my preference with Your voice. Make me attentive to Scripture and receptive to sound counsel. Where You have already made obedience clear, strengthen my willingness to respond. Keep me humble, discerning and close to You as the journey unfolds.
Amen.
