Underneath are everlasting arms
The eternal God is your dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms. He thrust out the enemy from before you, and said, ‘Destroy!’
Deuteronomy 33:27 · WEBThere are moments when what once made us feel secure begins to change. A familiar leader, role or routine is no longer available, and the future feels exposed. As Israel prepared to move forward without Moses, his blessing directed them beyond human stability to the eternal God, their true dwelling place.
Transitions can expose where we have placed our confidence. A familiar person, routine or structure changes, and we suddenly feel unsupported. God often uses people and systems to care for us, yet none of them can carry the weight that belongs to Him alone.
The everlasting arms do not promise that we will never feel loss or uncertainty. They remind us that no transition moves us beyond God’s reach. We can grieve what is changing while allowing Him to become our dwelling place again. Consider what has made you feel as though the ground beneath you is disappearing. Bring it before God, receive appropriate support and remember that His care is deeper than what has shifted. He remains beneath you, around you and faithful through the change.
The eternal God is my refuge, and His everlasting arms are beneath me. Changes around me cannot remove me from His care; I am held and sustained by Him.
Father, You know the transition that has unsettled me. Thank You for the people and structures You have used to support me, and help me release what is changing. Become my dwelling place again. Hold me steady, comfort my heart and guide me through what comes next.
Amen.
