But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5 · WEBWe do not have to hide our need for wisdom from God. Scripture invites us to ask, and it reveals our Father who gives generously without reproaching us for our need. Not knowing what to do is an opportunity to turn toward Him, not a reason to withdraw.
In uncertain seasons, we can be tempted to make a quick decision simply to relieve the discomfort of waiting. We may collect many opinions while giving little attention to prayer or the truth God has already revealed. Wisdom helps us resist that pressure.
Asking God for wisdom includes a willingness to receive an answer that challenges us. His direction may require patience, a difficult conversation or the humility to reconsider our approach. We seek His wisdom because we want His will, not merely His support for our existing plan.
Bring the decision before Him today. Search His Word, listen prayerfully and welcome counsel that is consistent with God’s Word. You can take practical steps without pretending to possess complete understanding. The Father is not offended by your questions. Ask with faith in His generous character and remain willing to follow.
I receive wisdom from God for the decisions before me. I am teachable, attentive and willing to follow His direction. I will not allow pressure to replace discernment, and I welcome counsel that agrees with His truth.
Father, I need Your wisdom for the choice before me. Deliver me from rushing simply to escape uncertainty. Help me search Your Word, receive sound counsel and recognize what honors You. Give me a teachable heart and the courage to follow Your direction even when it challenges my preference.
Amen.
